Did You Know?
Doug Beal, Coach of the 1984 Gold-Medal-winning U.S. Men´s Olympic Team, outlines his traits a winning volleyball athlete should cultivate in his 1985 book "Spike!" Respect the other team´s athletes. When you block a ball, turn around and celebrate with your teammates. Don´t play them, play yourself. If you only play to win, you limit yourself. You can do better! Play every ball as if it was the most important play of the game. Don´t watch the other players to see what they´re doing. Don´t worry about the score. Play your very best, every play, and the rest will take care of itself. Celebrating together builds enthusiasm and confidence. Playing against yourself builds skill and sportsmanship.

Where can I find volleyball camps or summer leagues?

We have a camps search engine located here. You can search camps by location, level, gender and type of camp. Bear in mind that camps are seasonal and do not tend to become available until the summer time, around May or so.

Summer Leagues can be found in our forum postings or most likely in or league listings.

How do I go about finding a professional team?

First off, you might consider adding himself to the player database at and be sure to check off that he is looking for a team.

As for looking for a team, your best bet is to contact several of the European organizations at or clubs at and ask for mailing/email lists for these organization leagues. Quite often they will be very cooperative. You then want to get a volleyball resume together, provide them with background on your career, highlights, etc. Then get a volleyball video together with some highlights, but more importantly, you want to show a full match in which you are proud of your play. Coaches want to see how you react throughout the full course of a game.

After you get in contact with these teams, they will quite often want to see some footage. You will have to convert this tape to PAL format form NTSC. This can be done at your local photo shop for about 20 bucks.

My advice is to take matters into your own hands. You might want to consult an agent to solidify the contract when that takes place.

Also, go over with the intent to have fun continuing to play the game you love, don't expect to make a tonne of money. Maybe even be prepared to get a part time job while you are over there.

Well that's about it, if you have any more questions, contact us.

Be persistent, it will pay off.
