The first set started with constant lead of the YUG Team by 5 points. Japanese Team did not give up and fought hard in the second set. Some excellent rallyes and passes made spectators roar with satisfaction.
Inexpectedly in the third set, the Japanese Team started with a high difference of 5 points, but the YUG regained quickly to reach 13:12. Soon they went equally together and both sides called for time-outs. YUG Team made mistakes, while Japanese Team made excellent passes and succeeded in passing through the YUG defense. What was expected to be an easy victory became a surprise for all.
Soon the Japanese won the 3rd set and headed for a new one. In spite of all efforts in the 4th set, continued concentration of the Japanese Team won them the 4th, very exciting set. Blocks were good, but not good enough to stop them.
The fifth set startedd with nervousness of the Yugoslav Team, but after the change of sides, and with the help of the full hall, Yugoslav Team ended the match with 15:10.
