World League Pool B: RUS vs. POL
    From FIVB online.

After winning first match Russian coaches decided to give an opportunity to play reserve players. At the beginning of the match libero of the Russian team Mitkov was injured and changed by Abramov. That is why the strategy needed to be changed.

The first set was started by RUSSIA with powerfull servises of Kazakov and attacks of Egortchev who made the score 10:2. POLAND was not able to opposite at this score and lost the set 25:11. But the second set was started by the Poland advantage up to the score 10:8. Russia managed to equalize 11:11and 17:17 but in the end of the set successfull block of Poland allowed them to win it with big advantage (25:20). The 3-rd set RUSSIA won due to extreemly strong servises of Arkhipov and blocks of Kazakov and Egortchev. In the 4-th set both teams made a lot of mistakes in reception and service. The nervous game with equilibrium continued up to 17:17 but then mistakes of Russian players caused they lost the set. Before changing sides of the court Russia had advantage in the 5th set, however then strong service and attack of David Murek changed the situation and Poland won finally.

    Guennadi CHIPOULINE, Russia

Unfortunately our young players lost the match, but we consider they to fulfil their task. It was important to us to check out young players in such a responsible match.

    Ryszard BOSEK, Poland

We are very happy to win one of the best team in the world. But more of all it was very important to us that after losing the first set without any struggle, our players could gether and demonstrated their real capacity. I hope we will not participate in the same pool at the semi-final round together with Russia.
