Club World Championship and a project for competitions with a height limit are on the Agenda
A Club World Championship, a project that's been talked about for two years, will be on the Agenda of the next FIVB Executive Committee meeting which will take place in Lausanne from the 28th of February to the 2nd of March.
If the Committee gives the green light to the idea, it will then be presented to the Board of Administration in April and further to the FIVB Congress, which takes place in Buenos Aires in September.
The agreement and cooperation of the National Leagues would then be necessary to launch the first tournament, which could feasibly begin in May 2003.
Another project, the organisation of a Volleyball competition with height limits for the players, is still in the early stages of discussion.
Dr. Rubén Acosta, FIVB President, opens the debate this year after several requests of this type, in order to allow wider access to the higher levels of the sport of Volleyball.
"It's an idea, we're going to debate it. The creation of a second category of players won't take anything away from current Volleyball competitions, which would in this case become open Volleyball competitions", stated the FIVB President.
