Did You Know?
Every high school player, if they love the game and would like to continue playing at the next level, gives thought to trying to find a scholarship to help make that dream possible. If that description fits you, you´ll have several factors to consider. First of all, do you have a particular school in mind? If you want to target a particular school, you´ll need to first know if they even give out scholarships. Many smaller schools don´t. You can find that out through your coach or the school´s website

Indoor Olympic Qualification Finalized

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, 2 May 2002 - The FIVB has announced the Qualification system for Volleyball for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

Volleyball will be open to a total of 144 men and 144 women players (12 teams of 12 athletes per teams of both genders). Only one men's and one women's team per country is allowed to qualify.

Greece, the host country, is directly granted one vacancy in each of the men's and women's Olympic Volleyball Tournaments.

The top three teams from the 2003 World Cups (men and women) will qualify for Athens 2004, with only teams that participate in the 2003 Continental Championship able to qualify for the 2003 World Cups. Continental Championships will be held from 1-30 September 2003, with World Cups for men and women, hosted by Japan, following in November 2003.

Continental Olympic Qualification tournaments, organized by each of the five FIVB Confederations, will be contested from 1 December 2003 to 15 January 2004 for another five vacancies. The winners of each tournament qualify for Athens 2004.

The remaining three vacancies, plus any non-disputes continental vacancies, will be decided through three World Olympics Qualification Tournaments organized by the FIVB. One women's tournament will be played in Japan in the period between 17 May and 13 June 2004 and will decide three vacancies. The winners of three men's tournaments, to be played in Spain, Portugal and Japan during the week ending 23 May 2004 will also qualify.
